The last time I ran this particular route, it was January 12th and around 20 degrees (well cooler than our average). Today was in the 70s and 13 degrees above average. Strange, then, that despite very different experiences, the two runs were similar in pace and heart rate (with this warmer day actually a bit lower).
Half #54: tempo on the South Island coast route
With a faster second half of the run, I worked my way down to an overall sub-7:00min/mi effort, which felt like a decent follow-up to last week’s 83-mile week.
Half #53: Dirty Turtle route with Kaushik, Ryan, and Mark
Solidarity run for those poor souls who are running the Dirty Turtle 25k/50k in two weeks! Glad to be joined by three of them on this challenging run: Kaushik Veeraraghavan, Ryan Goldstein, and Mark Goodro.
Lumberjack training ultra with Mark (half #51 and 52)
I signed up for the 100k version of the Lumberjack Endurance Run being held in June. Today in preparation, I did a little over 2.5 laps of the course, with Mark Goodro joining for the last one.
50th half! Gazzam to Grand Forest and back
Logged back-to-back half marathons yesterday and today to finish off April. Really satisfying to reach this point just four months into the year. As a bonus, I was lucky to be joined by Jon Ault for some impromptu miles!
Half #49: south-end cross Island progression run
Powered by All Dressed chips from my weekend on Vancouver Island. š
Half #48: Cross Island Trail and Grand Forest West
This is the original/actual Cross Island Trail running east/west across the middle of Bainbridge Island, to which I added some additional trails in Grand Forest West to reach the half marathon distance. It has been so sunny and dry recently that it was nice to run in the rain today.
Half #47: south-end cross-island route
Beautiful and clear day with a great view of Mt. Rainier. As they say out here: the mountain is out!
Half #46: return to trails
Ran the full Gazzam Nature Preserve circuit, plus Kojima and Lost Valley trails. Iām finally able to enjoy trail running without worrying about an ankle twist messing up my Boston plans.
Half # 45: these half marathons aren’t going to run themselves
Still sore from Monday’s Boston Marathon, I nevertheless went on to log another half, keeping it at an easy pace and on flat terrain. Let’s call it a recovery run.
