I made a conscious effort to hit the hills: Blakely, Old Mill, Halls, Toe Jam, Fort Ward, Blakely (from the other side), and Baker (in that order).
Half #157: Gazzam hill circuit + Kojima and Lost Valley
I’ve been hitting it pretty hard recently, with 12 half-marathons in the month so far (20 days in), and this one being the third day in a row. It’s possible that general fatigue is setting in, because I was dragging by the end of this one.
Half #156: three a week!
This is a special one, because it equates to 3 half-marathons a week, every week of the year (plus another 11 mi or so each week in other runs).
Half #155: Wednesday group run
I ran to the group run again, and the recent storm meant I saw more downed trees and lots of water. I fully submerged my feet in several deep puddles along the way.
Half #154: South Island coast half with Spencer
I ran with Spencer Nicholas, who was so patient with me as I made my sales pitch to a trail runner for adding road runs into the mix.
Half #153: sunny southeast Island with Angie, Leann, and Mark
I joined Angie Spooner, Leann Mullender, and Mark Goodro for a quick photo op with Bainbridge Parks and Trails, which we then turned into a run through some of the trails in the southeastern area of the Island.
Half #151 and 152: full marathon each month, complete!
I set myself a secondary goal to complete at least one run of full-marathon length (or longer) each month of 2024, and I reached that goal today.
Half #150!
So excited for this one! Mark Goodro and I set out together for the first 7 miles, as we ran to our usual run group and were met with a larger-than-usual number of runners for the final 7 miles. Special shout-out to Representative Greg Nance, founder of the Run Far Foundation, for joining us on the run.
When I initially conceived of this project I never thought I’d see this milestone, and I am so thankful.
Half #149: set for Wednesday
I pushed a little harder (or at least it felt that way, given the hills) than the previous run, and my leg was less noticeable this time. So I think I should be fine to run #150 on Wednesday!
Half #148: my first 2,500mi year!
It is so funny that my friend and running buddy, Mark Goodro, posted his own 2,500mi year for the first time exactly a week ago. He’s had a heck of a year, so I’m thrilled to be in the race!
For this run, I took it easy, as Wednesday’s run got my hamstring a bit angry again. Luckily, it felt better as the run went on, so I’m hopeful.
